“The Revolution will not be Televised… But it will be Livestreamed”
This article does an amazing job of summarizing our experience during the final days inside the resistance camps at #StandingRock as part of #NoDAPLSSRI.
We were among those on the summit of “Media Hill” on the evening prior to the eviction of the Oceti Sakowin Camp on February 22, 2017. The meeting took place outside of our bus, organized by the Oceti Sakowin Camp Media team to help independent media just arriving at camp to get a handle on the situation before us.
About 3 hours prior to this meeting, at a press conference which the camp had arranged, all were informed there would be a dedicated “press zone” established and that all media must be credentialed via the Morton County Sherriff’s department.
Having been on the ground for months documenting the movement, including all of the early morning meetings previously conducted between liasons for the camps and representatives of Morton County and the Army Corps of Engineers, we (members of the Oceti Sakowin Camp Media team) were DENIED media credentials.
Give this article a read – the importance of independent media in this day and age is more apparent than ever.
