A direct action kicked off in the early morning of the State of Minnesota’s Public Utilities Commission’s 5th day of deliberation regarding approval of the Enbridge Energy Line 3 Pipeline Replacement Project.
The message, “Expect Resistance”, was displayed loud and clear as news agencies continued to arrive and document over the course of the 3-hour action which shut down 7th. Place East in Downtown St. Paul.
The “Certificate of Need” for a brand new pipeline corridor, which has been termed a “replacement” for the existing 60-year old Line 3 in the Enbridge Mainline Corridor, was issued later in the day by the State of Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.
The “expect resistance” message and call for widespread non-violent direct action was echoed during the post-decision press conference by Winona LaDuke extending the invite for Water Protectors to join the Anishinaabe people in the battle to #StopLine3.
